Steward Terms of Service

Effective date: September 14, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Steward, LLC ("Steward," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using Steward, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement. Questions: legal@steward.host.

The short version

  • Your data is yours. You can export it at any time, and closing your account doesn't trap it. We use it to run Steward for you — that's it.
  • You review before anything goes out. Steward drafts the reports, numbers, and narratives from what you give it; you approve them. It supports your judgment, it doesn't replace it.
  • We won't put your name on anything public without asking. No company name, logo, quote, or testimonial — and if you've said yes and later change your mind about a quote, tell us and we'll stop using it.

What Steward is (and isn't)

Steward helps property operators run and report on their properties: owner and stewardship reporting, performance insights, occupancy and pacing, imports, and the monthly close. Steward currently connects to your systems on a read-only basis — it reports on your operation and provides insights to help you run it more efficiently.

Steward is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Reports and insights are generated from data you provide and configure. You are responsible for your business: verifying your numbers, reviewing reports before you send them (Steward is designed with review-and-approve steps for exactly this), your filings and taxes, and your obligations to your owners, landlords, tenants, and guests.

Your account

Provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure — you're responsible for activity under your account. If you invite team members, you're responsible for who you invite and what they do; they must also follow these terms.

Pilot program

If you're using Steward as a pilot participant, the service is provided free of charge and as-is. Pilot features may change, break, be reworked, or be discontinued as we learn and build, and either of us may end pilot participation at any time.

Pilot participation will not automatically convert into a paid subscription. You will not be charged unless you separately choose a paid plan and provide payment authorization. Pricing for continued use after the pilot, including any pilot-participant discount, will be communicated before any paid plan begins.

Data accuracy and report review

Steward generates reports, insights, recommendations, and drafts from the data you provide, import, connect, configure, or approve. That data may be incomplete, outdated, incorrectly mapped, or affected by third-party platform limitations.

You are responsible for reviewing and approving all reports, recommendations, calculations, payouts, narratives, and other outputs before relying on them or sending them to owners, landlords, partners, guests, tenants, or anyone else. Steward is a tool to support your judgment, not a substitute for professional review or business responsibility.

Reports and recipients

You control which reports are generated, what they include, and who receives them. You are responsible for making sure report recipients are appropriate, that you have permission to contact them, and that the report content is accurate and suitable before sending.

Payment terms (paid plans)

  • Fees are as shown at https://www.steward.host/pricing or in your order, billed per property, monthly or annually, processed by Stripe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your account settings or by contacting us at legal@steward.host; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
  • Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Price changes apply to your next renewal, with at least 30 days' notice.
  • For annual plans or other renewals requiring advance notice by law, we will provide renewal notice as required by applicable law.
  • Failed payments: we'll retry and notify you; continued failure for 14 days may result in suspension until resolved.
  • You're responsible for any applicable taxes (other than our income taxes).

Your data

Your data is yours. You grant us the license needed to host, process, and display it to provide the service to you — including generating your reports and insights — as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export your data through available export tools or by contacting us. You're responsible for having the right to upload the data you upload, including information about your guests, tenants, owners, landlords, and partners. Where required, data-processing obligations may be addressed in a Data Processing Addendum or other applicable agreement.

Acceptable use

Use Steward lawfully and as intended. Don't: attempt to access other operators' data; reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the service; resell access without our agreement; upload malicious code; interfere with the service's operation; or upload highly sensitive personal information Steward doesn't need (see the Privacy Policy's "Sensitive information we do not need").

Feedback and testimonials

We welcome feedback and suggestions, and we may use them to improve Steward without restriction or compensation. We will not publicly use your name, company name, logo, non-public quote, or identifiable testimonial without your permission — and if you've given permission and change your mind about a specific quote, tell us and we'll discontinue its use going forward.

Confidentiality

Each of us may receive nonpublic information from the other — business, financial, technical, product, customer, property, owner, landlord, guest, tenant, pricing, roadmap, or operational information. Each party agrees to use the other party's confidential information only as needed to provide or use Steward, and to protect it using reasonable care. Confidential information does not include information that is public, already known without restriction, independently developed, or lawfully received from someone else. These confidentiality obligations continue after this agreement ends.

Aggregated and de-identified data

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to operate, improve, and develop Steward, including benchmarks, product analytics, and performance insights. We will not use this information in a way that identifies you, your owners, guests, tenants, properties, or business.

Our property

The Steward software, design, and brand are ours (or our licensors'). These terms don't transfer any of that to you — and nothing here transfers your data or your business to us.

Third-party platforms and integrations

If you connect a third-party service to Steward, you authorize us to access and process data from that service to provide Steward to you. Integrations are governed by your agreements with those providers. Third-party services may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue their data, APIs, exports, permissions, or functionality at any time, and Steward is not responsible for those third-party changes, outages, or decisions.

Today, Steward reads from the services you connect and does not write to them.

Disclaimers

Steward is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that reports will be free of inaccuracies arising from the data provided to us. Steward does not guarantee increased revenue, occupancy, search ranking, bookings, owner retention, or other business results.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or revenues; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100. Steward is not a party to your agreements with your owners, landlords, partners, report recipients, tenants, guests, or team members, and isn't liable for disputes arising from those relationships.

Indemnification

You'll defend and hold us harmless from claims arising from your data, your use of the service in violation of these terms, or your relationships and agreements with your owners, landlords, partners, report recipients, tenants, guests, and team members.

Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical. After termination, you'll have a reasonable window (at least 30 days, where practical) to export your data — unless continued access would create legal, security, or operational risk — after which deletion follows our Privacy Policy.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and each party consents to personal jurisdiction and venue there. Both parties waive jury trial to the extent permitted.

Force majeure

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages, internet or hosting failures, third-party service failures, natural disasters, labor disputes, government actions, security incidents, or other events we could not reasonably prevent.

Changes to these terms

We'll post updates with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll present the updated terms in the app. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

The rest

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms plus the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Steward. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale (protections travel with it).
